Maya Hernandez is known for their dramatic performances and strong work ethic, and has trained diligently for 15 years under the direction of Augga Hawkins and the instructors at Northwest Dance and Acro, becoming well-versed in multiple styles of dance such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acro, tap, and hip hop.

Over the course of their studies, Maya has sought additional education and experience at numerous dance conventions, intensives, and competitions, earning special awards, scholarships, and opportunities along the way. They were invited by company director Meghan Way Stinson to train and perform with Rhythmic Souls Tap Company in Dallas, Texas, and also auditioned and were selected to be a part of the 2020 Tint Dance Festival, working under the guidance of the Guild Dance Company's artistic director, Alex Ung.

Maya has had the chance to perform their award-winning choreography at regional dance competitions during the 2020-2024 seasons. Maya has also had the opportunity to teach classes at NWDA in hip hop, acro, tap, ballet and lyrical for children ages 4-12. They love working with students and sharing their passion for dance with the next generation of artists.

Currently, Maya is in their first year of study at Cornish College of the Arts where they are pursuing their BFA in dance. They're so excited to continue expanding their knowledge of the performing arts, develop working relationships with fellow dancers, and explore the exciting creative opportunities Seattle has to offer!
